In Miskolc, on Szent István Square – also known as Dísz Square – stands Zsolt Jószay's full-figure statue of Saint Stephen, made of Süttő stone. The work was unveiled by the Archbishop of Eger on 27 December 2000. The statue depicts Saint Stephen, the founder of the state, after the coronation, stepping through the symbolic gate of Christian culture with the royal insignia in his hands. In his left hand is the orb, in his right the sceptre, while on his head glitters the crown received from Pope Sylvester II.
