The Sacred Heart of Jesus rock chapel in Miskolctapolca is located on Brassói Street and is one of the district's built monuments with a particularly special atmosphere. The chapel was created from interconnected cave passages, so even its interior offers quite a different experience from that of a traditional church.
The rock chapel was completed in the 1930s and consecrated in 1935. Its interior evokes the work of the era's masters with a vaulted nave, a star vault, statues, holy images and an ornate gate. A relic of the Martyrs of Kassa (Košice) was placed in the altar, and during a later renovation a Székely gate was also erected in memory of Father Pius Szabó, who initiated the construction
