Programme recommendationŐspark: Miskolctapolca park and boating lake

The Miskolctapolca park near the Cave Bath is one of the area's most beautiful green spaces. Its arboretum-like atmosphere is created by the native plants, the old trees and the more unusual species planted later, all together. The centre of the park is the boating lake, whose best-known island is "Love Island", tied to a local legend of eternal love. The lake is fed by a spring of around 18 °C. On the shore you can still see the remains of the spring-fen habitat, as well as the old pedunculate oaks that give the area special natural value. The park's history goes all the way back to the Árpád era, and it was later enriched with exotic trees and shrubs in the 1920s, which is why it is under nature conservation protection today.

The Őspark was renovated in 2023: the walking paths were reorganised, the public lighting and utilities were modernised, and tens of thousands of new plants were planted. After the renovation, the park became even more engaging: miniature bronze statues, interactive boards and wooden play elements were also added.

The little bronze statues invite visitors on a playful voyage of discovery. Walking through the park, you can come across well-known symbols of Miskolc, local stories and figures connected to the area's wildlife. Among others, you can seek out Mancs, the famous Miskolc rescue dog, the Benedictine monk, the swans of the boating lake, as well as miniature replicas of the Avas Lookout and Diósgyőr Castle.

If you want to walk the entire statue route, you will find a detailed description and a downloadable map at the reception. In addition to a pleasant walk, the park can also be explored as a small treasure hunting program.
